Science - quiz tomorrow on Pure Substances or Mixtures

LA - novel study was due today Jan. 31 and there is a new assignment due Feb. 14 and this is with the three cards that you have from class.

7J Mr. Steeves

Math - Students are to complete Sheet J # 1-4

Soc. St. - Students in 7 AB and J all have a quiz on Wednesday for Chapter two. They will all have a review sheet to study from tomorrow night and have been working on it for a couple of days.

LA - 7J is working on an individual novel study project. We are doing most of it in class so it shouldn't be a homework problem for parents. This has been happening for about a week and will continue until March break or shortly thereafter. Students will have the break to put finishing touches on projects but most should be finished before hand.

Science - 7J will have a Science test on Chapter 4 this Wednesday or Thursday. We started a review today and I have handed out all of the notes they will need in order to ace this test. We will review tomorrow and they will write their quiz on Feb. 2nd.

Science - Microscope parts sheet MUST be completed for tomorrow. It was homework yesterday but in order to do the lab tomorrow afternoon they have to be prepared with a safety class and instruction on the microscope.

Day 1

Language Arts: Novel Study - due January 31st.

You will not be working on the independant novel study every class. It is necessary that you do some of the work on your own time.

Before Christmas break, we started an independant novel study. Some of you haven't made a novel selection. Some of you made a selection and started reading, but did not bring your novel with you.

To be prepared for class you need to:

• Bring your novel
• Read it during class
• Do the required chapter work for each chapter

MARKS WILL BE DEDUCTED ON A DAILY BASIS FOR THOSE WHO COME TO CLASS UNPREPARED OR WHO DO NOT WORK PRODUCTIVELY DURING ALLOTTED CLASS TIME.

Each chapter:

• to be read and summarized. (paragraph)
• write a prediction of the following chapter - what do you think will happen next? (paragraph)
• You need to select 5 words you didn't know, found complicated, or select words that are not used in your typical day-to-day conversation.

1. Write the word down.
2. State what page it came from in your novel.
3. using a dictionary, define the word.

A novel is a narrative story. If it is a book that has chapters, this does not necessarily mean that it is telling a story.
